BC PNP : British Columbia Entrepreneur Immigration Program

What is British Columbia Entrepreneur Immigration Stream ?

The British Columbia Entrepreneur Immigration Stream is a pathway for experienced entrepreneurs who wish to establish or purchase and expand a business in British Columbia, Canada. This stream is part of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) and aims to attract entrepreneurial talent and investment to the province. Successful applicants under this stream may be nominated for Canadian permanent residency.

The British Columbia Entrepreneur Immigration Stream offers two categories for individuals who wish to establish or purchase and expand a business in British Columbia. These categories are designed to accommodate different business goals and locations within the province:

1. Entrepreneur Category:

This category is suitable for individuals who want to start a new business or take over an existing business in British Columbia. To be eligible under this category, applicants must meet certain requirements, including:

  • Personal Net Worth: Applicants must have a minimum personal net worth as specified by the program.
  • Business Experience: Applicants must have at least three years of experience as an active business owner-manager or four years of experience as a senior manager within the last five years.
  • Investment: Applicants must make a minimum investment in the proposed business as determined by the program.
  • Job Creation: Applicants must create and maintain at least one full-time job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Language Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English or French by providing language test results.

2. Regional Entrepreneur Category:

This category is designed to encourage entrepreneurship and business development in smaller communities outside the Vancouver metropolitan area. The eligibility requirements for this category are similar to the Entrepreneur Category, with some additional considerations such as:

  • Minimum Investment: The minimum investment requirement for this category may be lower compared to the Entrepreneur Category.
  • Business Performance Agreement: Successful applicants under this category are required to sign a Business Performance Agreement that outlines the performance expectations for their business in the designated community.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Before applying, carefully review the program requirements, eligibility criteria, and guidelines provided by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). Assess your personal and business qualifications to determine if you meet the minimum requirements.

Create an online account on the BC PNP's application portal and complete the registration process. Provide accurate and up-to-date information about yourself, your business experience, and your proposed business plan.

Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to express your interest in the Entrepreneur Immigration Stream. Provide detailed information about your business concept, investment plans, and proposed contribution to the provincial economy. Your EOI will be evaluated based on a points-based system, and if you meet the minimum score requirement, you may be invited to submit a full application.

If your EOI is selected, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the BC PNP. The ITA will contain instructions on how to proceed with your application. You will have a specific timeframe to submit your complete application, including all required documents and supporting evidence.

Prepare and submit a comprehensive application package as per the guidelines provided. This may include documents related to your personal net worth, business experience, investment funds, proposed business plan, language proficiency, and other supporting documents.

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast

Upon receiving your application, the BC PNP may conduct a thorough review of your business proposal, including verification of your financial resources and investment plans. If required, you may also be invited for an interview to further discuss your business proposal and assess your suitability.

If your application is approved, you will receive a nomination from the BC PNP. With this nomination, you can apply to the federal government for permanent residence as a business immigrant. Follow the instructions provided by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for the permanent residence application process.

Once you receive your permanent residence, you can move to British Columbia and establish or purchase and expand your business as per your proposed plans. Fulfill the commitments outlined in your Business Performance Agreement (if applicable) and actively engage in your business activities.
