Parents And Grandparents Sponsorship
Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship
The Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship program is a Canadian immigration program that allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents to come to Canada and become permanent residents.
To apply for sponsorship of parents and grandparents, the sponsor must follow these steps:
- Expression of Interest:
The sponsor must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) form to IRCC to indicate their interest in sponsoring their parent(s) or grandparent(s). The EOI is available for a limited period each year.
- Invitation to Apply:
IRCC will randomly select sponsors from the pool of submitted EOIs and issue an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to those who are selected.
- Submit Application:
The sponsor and sponsored parent or grandparent must complete the application forms and provide all required documents to the IRCC. The application will be reviewed by an immigration officer to ensure that all eligibility criteria have been met.
- Pay Fees:
There are fees associated with the sponsorship application, as well as fees for the sponsored parent or grandparent’s permanent residence application, medical exams, and biometric data collection.
- Wait for Processing:
The processing time for parent and grandparent sponsorship applications can vary depending on factors such as the complexity of the case and the volume of applications being processed. The sponsor will receive updates on the status of the application from the IRCC.
- Prepare for Arrival:
Once the application is approved, the sponsored parent or grandparent will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and must make arrangements for their arrival in Canada.
