Express Entry
Express Entry
Express Entry is an immigration system used by the Canadian government to manage applications for permanent residence for skilled workers. The system is designed to expedite the processing of applications and to match skilled workers with employment opportunities in Canada.
To be eligible for Express Entry, applicants must first create an online profile and provide information about their skills, education, work experience, and language proficiency in English and/or French. They must also complete an approved language test and obtain an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to verify their foreign educational credentials.
Once the online profile is complete, applicants are assigned a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on their qualifications. The CRS score is used to rank applicants against other Express Entry candidates, and the highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.
There are three main economic immigration programs that are managed through Express Entry:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program:
This program is for skilled workers who have work experience in a high-demand occupation and who meet other eligibility criteria.
- Federal Skilled Trades Program:
This program is for skilled tradespeople who have work experience in a high-demand trade and who meet other eligibility criteria.
- Canadian Experience Class:
This program is for skilled workers who have already gained work experience in Canada and who meet other eligibility criteria.
